Stumbled onto this thread just recently. Sorry for any perceived lack of timeliness. The question was: how do I build a 'metal' drumkit in H2. And my response (from a production and real drumming POV): what type of metal? Early British and American metal is pretty much straight forward rock drumming, so I'd recommend a good rock kit with some judicious EQ.
80s thrashing/shredding introduced the blast beat, so I normally pitch my kick drums up and tune my snare down. And for the more modern stuff, I mix acoustic stuff with loops based on 808/909.
