Move Suites from one Sound Directory to another. Rename or Delete existing Sound Directories. Rename or Delete existing Suites IMPORTANT NOTE: You MUST NOT move, delete or rename Elements within a Suite on your computer. Doing so will break the Suite.
Please see the end of this chapter for information about how to manage Elements properly. All of this management takes place in the SAGE/SAGE Libraries/User Libraries directory on your computer. You don't perform any of these functions from the RMX GUI. The above directory looks like this in RMX: In the following explanations, we'll use the above directory as a starting point. NOTE: To view any of the following changes inside RMX, you must remove any active instance of RMX and then reopen it. RMX will then rescan the directories and reflect all the directory changes. CREATING A NEW SOUND DIRECTORY Creating a new Sound Directory is very easy.
Simply create a new folder in the User Libraries directory and give it a custom name. For a Sound Directory to appear in the Sound Directory menu, it must have at least one valid Suite. If there is something wrong with the Suite, you will not be able to select the Sound Directory. In this example, a new Sound Directory called “Action Grooves” has been created. However, since it is still empty, it will not appear yet in RMX: MOVING SUITES FROM ONE SOUND DIRECTORY TO ANOTHER Suites must reside in a Sound Directory, they cannot function on their own. Moving a Suite from one Sound Directory to another simply requires moving the desired folders from one Sound Directory to another. In the example below, the Suites “Rundown 155” and “SLASHER 185” have been moved to the “Action Grooves” Sound Directory: This is how these changes appear in Stylus RMX: NOTE: To make a Suite into its own Sound Directory, you must create a Sound Directory first and then move the Suite into it.
Simply moving a Suite one directory level up will not work because the directory structure for the Sound Directory will not be correct. RENAMING EXISTING SOUND DIRECTORIES Giving a Sound Directory a new name is accomplished by renaming the folder. It is possible to rename any User imported Sound Directory-including “Converted REX Files”. Let's rename “Converted REX Files”. In the example, you can see that we have renamed “Converted REX Files” to “Slow and Funky”: Here's what that change looks like in RMX: When you perform future conversions, RMX will automatically create another “Converted REX Files” Sound Directory if necessary. You can always rename that one too. RENAMING EXISTING SUITES Giving a Suite a new name is accomplished by renaming the folder.
It is possible to rename any User imported Suite. Let's rename the two Suites inside the “Slow and Funky” Sound Directory. In the picture below, you can see that we have renamed both Suites: Here's how they appear in RMX now: DELETING EXISTING IMPORTED SUITES AND SOUND DIRECTORIES You can delete converted Suites and Sound Directories by simply trashing them on your computer. However, DON'T delete individual Elements! This will break the Suite and cause problems. See the next section on the correct way to manage Elements.
DELETING, RENAMING, MOVING & UPDATING IMPORTED ELEMENTS While it's not possible to do these functions using your computer's file management system without causing problems - there is another way to accomplish all of these functions at the Element level: Simply do what you need to do to the original REX files, delete the previously imported Suites or Sound Directory in the SAGE folder and re-import the REX files again. The import process is extremely fast - especially with the batch conversion methods - so it's not hard and doesn't take as much time as you might imagine. HINT: We highly recommend keeping your original REX files handy, even after you've converted them to RMX since you may wish to convert them again for any of these element management reasons.
. Drag & Drop Batch Conversion. SAGE CONVERTER - Drag & Drop Batch Conversion It is now possible to import hundreds of REX files at once into multiple custom-named Suites and Sound Directories using the new Drag-and-Drop batch conversion functionality. Importing using this method is a simple matter of selecting the desired files or folders and dragging them onto the SAGE Converter GUI.
The conversion process begins once the mouse button is released. Before importing with Drag-and-Drop, there are a few guidelines to keep in mind:. 61 REX Files is the limit for each Suite/Folder. You can only convert one level of sub-folders in any single REX Library.
There are several types of Drag & Drop batch conversion possibilities:. Multiple REX Files-Single RMX Suite.
Single Folder of REX Files-Single RMX Suite. Multiple Folders of REX Files-Multiple RMX Suites. Single REX Library-Single RMX User Sound Directory.
Multiple REX Libraries-Multiple RMX User Sound Directories. Special Batch Combinations Batch Converting Multiple REX Files-Single RMX Suite This method is useful because it allows for very quick conversion of multiple files that are not organized into folders. You can select one or more REX files (up to 61) and drag-and-drop them directly onto the SAGE Converter interface. This results in a single Suite being created which is automatically placed in the “Converted REX Files” Sound Directory. This new method is a faster alternative to using the “Import REX Files” button.
Once the files have been drag-and-dropped on the SAGE Converter interface, a window appears asking you to name the Suite that will contain the imported REX Files. After you are finished naming the new suite, you may click the “Convert” box with the mouse button, or press “Enter” on your computer keyboard. As the SAGE Converter is importing the files, you can watch its progress via the red Progress Bar. NOTE: Importing REX files is a quick process on a fast computer. If you are only importing a few REX files, the process will only take a couple seconds. Once the SAGE Converter has completed the importing, the Suite is ready the next time you open the RMX plug-in.
The converted REX files may be accessed via the ”Converted REX Files” Sound Directory under the User Libraries Master Directory. NOTE: It is possible to reorganize Suites once they have been imported. Please see the section on for information on how to manage imported Suites.
REFERENCE: If you are having any trouble with unsuccessful conversions, please read the in the Support section. Batch Converting a Single Folder of REX Files-Single RMX Suite A single folder containing up to 61 REX files may be drag-and-dropped on the Converter GUI for import. Using this method results in one Suite being placed in the “Converted REX Files” Sound Directory. The Suite is automatically given the same name as the folder containing the REX files. This is a great way to quickly import a bunch of files that are already in a folder. Once the Converter has completed the import, the Suite is ready the next time you open the RMX plug-in. The converted REX files may be accessed via the ”Converted REX Files” Sound Directory.
NOTE: It is possible to reorganize Suites once they have been imported. Please see the section on for information on how to manage imported Suites.
REFERENCE: If you are having any trouble with unsuccessful conversions, please read the in the Support section. Batch Converting Multiple Folders of REX Files-Multiple RMX Suites Several folders of grooves may be imported at the same time-each folder becoming its own Suite in the “Converted REX Files” Sound Directory. Each folder may contain up to 61 REX files. In the picture below, there are four folders with unrelated REX files. We can import them into their own Suites during a single Batch conversion.
Importing is as simple as selecting all four folders and Drag-and-Dropping them at the same time onto the SAGE Converter GUI. The result of the batch conversion can be seen in the picture below. There are now four Suites inside the “Converted REX Files” Sound Directory that have the same names as the four folders that were dragged to the GUI. NOTE: It is possible to reorganize Suites once they have been imported. Please see the section on for information on how to manage imported Suites. REFERENCE: If you are having any trouble with unsuccessful conversions, please read the in the Support section.
Batch Converting a Single REX Library-Single RMX User Sound Directory The SAGE Converter is capable of importing an entire library of REX files at once. This allows you to convert hundreds of files at the same time. Batch library conversion involves simply drag-and-dropping a directory that contains REX files organized in sub-directories. In the example below, the directory “REX Library 1” contains an entire library of REX Files. All the REX Files are contained in the three sub-directories-Rex Suite 1, Rex Suite 2 and Rex Suite 3.

Each sub-directory can have up to 61 REX files. NOTE: The Converter only looks one sub-directory level down from the top level for REX files.
If a sub-directory contains more sub-directories with REX Files, the Converter will not see those REX Files. To batch convert the entire REX library, drag-and-drop the “REX Library 1” folder onto the SAGE Converter's interface. Once the conversion is complete, a new Sound Directory has been created-“REX Library 1”. This is exactly the same as the library's original name.

All of the associated files with that library are in this new Sound Directory. There are three Suites in this Sound Directory. They are: Rex Suite 1, Rex Suite 2 and Rex Suite 3-exactly the same as the sub-directories.
The REX files that were in those sub-directories are now RMX Elements within those Suites. NOTE: It is possible to reorganize Suites and libraries once they have been imported. Please see the section on for information on how to manage imported Suites. REFERENCE: If you are having any trouble with unsuccessful conversions, please read the in the Support section.
Batch Converting Multiple REX Libraries-Multiple RMX User Sound Directories The SAGE Converter is capable of importing multiple complete libraries of REX files at the same time. Each library will become its own Sound Directory. In the example below, there are two libraries ready for batch conversion.
Note that each library has several sub-directories, but only one sub-directory level deep. The batch library conversion begins when both libraries' top level folders are drag-and-dropped onto the SAGE Converter's GUI. The result of the batch conversion is that each library became a Sound Directory and each of the Sub-directories became a Suite within the corresponding Sound Directory. NOTE: It is possible to reorganize Suites and libraries once they have been imported. Please see the section on for information on how to manage imported Suites. REFERENCE: If you are having any trouble with unsuccessful conversions, please read the in the Support section.

Special Batch Combination Conversions Generally, it is recommended that you organize files for importing as described in the previous sections. However, the SAGE Converter is very flexible and can handle multiple kinds of imports simultaneously. Basically, any combinations of files, folders and libraries will result in a successful conversion. Just remember that files and folders of files always end up in the “Converted REX Files” Sound Directory and Libraries with nested sub-directories will become new Sound Directories. To summarize the batch conversion rules:. Multiple REX Files-Single RMX Suite. Single Folder of REX Files-Single RMX Suite.
Multiple Folders of REX Files-Multiple RMX Suites. Single REX Library-Single RMX User Sound Directory. Multiple REX Libraries-Multiple RMX User Sound Directories.
