Logitech G27 Driver Windows 8.1

Logitech

Recently when I went to adjust the rotation on my Logitech G27 wheel to 900 degrees as required by a game I play the setup window on 'Properties' the window I now see isn't the one I had seen for years and through several incarnations of Windows. I no longer have the settings page with the full adjustments for Force Feedback or the slider that changed rotation. It's now the same setup window I had previously seen when I would use one of my regular joysticks.

I don't have Logitech Gaming software installed. I never needed it or used it, but was having issues with an online racing game which someone insisted the problem was me NOT using it. I installed it and it made no difference as I suspected so I uninstalled it.

I don't know if this affected things or not. I tend to move around various styles of games I like so I went on a FPS tear after that for a few months until a week or so ago when I wanted to do some racing. As stated at the beginning: I can't change settings as I once did because of this and hours of searching didn't locate my issue. Hopefully someone can help.

Logitech G27 Driver Update

The situation is now resolved. Essentially it was a corrupted Windows 7 Ultimate installation. It was caused by one of two of my video cards which began failing shortly after I got my computer. The problem first appeared as the PC randomly going into Power Save Mode from which it was very difficult to wake from and eventually began crashing and freezing my PC but exclusive to happening when I was gaming.

When the failures would occur, the PC would sometimes boot up into a self-repair attempt which would also fail, sometimes shutting down, sometimes freezing. It would eventually start again and boot into Windows. Other odd things began happening such as this issue with the incorrect controller setup window. Windows installer not working, and a host of other annoying little things, I would have done a repair re-install were this OS Windows XP.

I wasn't able to do that with my Windows 7 copy because it was pre SP1 and my SP1 came from Windows Update. Attempts to try resulted in the 'The program you are trying to install is older than the one installed so setup will terminate' or words to that effect. I couldn't do the 'borrow a copy from a friend and use my activation code' because, according to MS, my version of W7 was a system builder version so a retail version wouldn't have worked.

Another option was slipstreaming SP1 which was so full of contradictory advice and conflicting information it was a no starter. As this was coming together in my head several other things happened: free W7 support ended, retail versions of W7 were no longer being sold, and the site that had free images of W7 to use in cases like mine was taken down by MS. While I have always backed up weekly my backups were corrupted. I didn't like the backup software I was using anyway, bought a new backup program and that was when I found the installer wasn't working.

I have my main 240 GB SSD as C: in my PC and it's about 80% full. A 1.5 TB secondary drive with 150 GB free holds most of my important data so a clean install was out of the question and I didn't dare risk it. I knew better but tried a program I downloaded that said it worked by restoring all Windows folders that were missing or corrupted from their data base. They implied they were just short of being able to do a full Windows installation. I read and reread it, thought and agonized but tried out of desperation. Initially it appeared it saved me but I quickly learned I made a huge mistake trusting this over glorified registry cleaner.

It flat took over my PC turning off services like Windows Update and taking control of other programs so when I finally removed it things were an even huger mess. It restored nothing back to operation like Update after it was gone although it did keep popping up a reminder that all my issues could be solved if only I'd reinstall it. I finally tracked down and killed that part too. Thus began the end game. First came the realization that there was nothing else I could think of or try and after all the freezes, crashes, that freakin' BS program there was nothing else I could do.

I needed help. I called MS which was when I discovered that support was over the previous week, the retail copies no longer available, the builder copies wouldn't do what I wanted, etc. But, they'd look at it if I bought 1 year service contract. Cost: $150.00. That was less than what I anticipated spending on a new OS so I bought it. Two days and many, many hours later, they could not repair it. The only non-data destroying option was upgrading to Windows 8.1 Pro -I wanted the 64 bit one.

Cost: $199.99. It fixed the wrong setup window issue, it fixed the installer issue and everything is fine now. But, when I tried to re-enable my Office 2010 I found since I bought and installed it 4 or more years ago, the key code had been circulated apparently enough times MS locked it so it was too bad for me. $209.99 or $219.99 -forget which- got me Office 2013 Home and Business because I did not want an Office subscription service. A few days later I realize it doesn't have Access and Access 2013 is another $109.00, more than half the cost of the entire suite. No discounts available. I grabbed Open Office for their data base.

I was lost with Windows 8.1 so another $50 for a couple manuals. My Paint Shop Pro X3 was supposed to be compatible with 8.1. It wouldn't launch and being I needed it, I had to get PSP X7 which I lucked out and got for half price. Of course, there's the ongoing loading new drivers and riding the 8.1 learning curve. The main thing is with 8.1 'Run as Administrator' is way more necessary than it was with W7.

And I do mean almost everything I installed. Almost every issue I read on the Internet to do with compatibility issues with 8.1 seemed to lead back to that, well except for PSP X3. If I had a number of the same devices, especially Logitech mice, keyboards, game controllers, and trackballs or software, mine had problems until I reinstalled and ran as administrator. Same with software - people had issues, I used install as administrator and it all installed and ran just fine.

So, my PC is fixed, I'm starting to be OK with Windows 8.1. The last issue is the PC builder who has been sandbagging me about honoring the 'free parts and labor' part of the warranty I bought over the GPU. It's necessitating me filing a complaint through the State Attorney General's office. I guess the builders are used to setting up so many hoops and gotcha!s that most customers give up and walk away. Not this guy! They don't know who they are messing with!

Okay, so today I got my Logitech G27 new from amazon. When it came I set it up and downloaded the Logitech Gaming Software (8.56).

When the installation was done, the software didn't recognize anything. So I called Logitech, and the guy told me it was because I was running Windows 8.1.

I tried playing iRacing and everything worked except for the clutch, the H-Shifter, the indicator light, and the force feedback, along with some buttons being recognized as the same buttons. I did not get any driver CD's in the box. Please help me!

I spent $200 and I don't want it to go to waste! Thank you in advance, Hunter. I am having trouble with mine too. I bought it refurbished from meritline, and everything seemed to work, but the clutch and H-shifter. After some internet research, this may be from a software/driver issue, but I cannot get the software to work (although I'm on 7).

Spent two hours on the phone with Logitech and all I got out of that conversation was that they are 'escalating my case' to higher up and hope to have the issue resolved soon. I have a couple weeks left on my return policy and I really don't want to have to use it:(.
